A new intern for a new year!

Hello — I am Green Writers Press’ new intern, Cheyenne Vaughn!

I was first enchanted by the world of words, stories and books after reading Mark Twain’s Huckleberry Finn at the age of nine. Since then my book shelves have continued expanding to include many other authors who also inspire my life and my writing. My contribution to those shelves, so far, are two projects that seek to offer viewers a glimpse of life in rural Vermont using writing and photography. The title of my portfolio is Small Town Life in Northern New England: 2007–2011. I submitted this portfolio during the college admission process. Currently, I am a first year student at Bennington College, concentrating in writing and literature. I am excited to learn about publishing—particularly, a book’s journey from an idea to ink on paper—at a press with such a strong community.

Since starting my internship at GWP (a week ago!) I’ve already sketched three possible covers for a new book of poetry, helped hang a show and had a snow day (thanks storm Hercules). It’s been a busy week and I’ll be working on So Little Time and Lasting Words before it is through! (After that I’m looking forward to working on Why I Ride: Because a Bike Pedal Lasts Longer Than a Gas Tank and Polly and the One and Only World!)
