TODAY, the sun came out, and our publishing venture was born! (…hi author, Patti Smith!)

We will co-publish, with our writers, in a unique venture — a collaboration of writer, artist, publisher, printer, designer, packager, marketer and publicist — that the publishing world will see as one of a kind. We will focus on children’s literature, art, nature, poetry; as well as literary fiction and non-fiction.

There will be no end to what we will do. First and foremost, we will work together to try to save the planet for what is appearing to be a global climate crisis. According to 350.org founder, Bill McKibben, we live in an unprecedented time of global catastrophes on the rise.

“I think people who don’t know the woods very well sometimes imagine it as a kind of undifferentiated mass of greenery, an endless continuation of the wall of trees they see lining the road. And I think they wonder how it could hold anyone’s interest for very long, being all so much the same. But in truth I have a list of a hundred places in my own town I haven’t been yet. Quaking bogs to walk on; ponds I’ve never seen in the fall (I’ve seen them in the summer – but that’s a different pond). That list gets longer every year, the more I learn, and doubtless it will grow until the day I die. So many glades; so little time.”

Here, at Green Writers Press, we share Professor McKibben’s desire to change the world.

We have big plans for the future—a “Green Writers Conference” in October in Vermont, a book launch party at Next Stage Arts in Putney, Vermont with a reading from our first authors with a question and answer “conversation,” followed by a party.

This blog will have updates, and you can find us on the usual social media, or at your local independent bookstore! We plan to create audio books, so you can listen while you walk or hike the countryside, far and wide.
